If this is your first time visiting Morocco, make sure to pack light but smart. The weather can change between the mountains, desert, and cities, so bring layers. A light jacket for the cool desert night, comfortable clothes for the day, and closed shoes for walking are all helpful. Don’t forget sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat to protect yourself from the strong sun.
It’s important to stay hydrated during the trip, especially in the desert. Carry a reusable water bottle and drink often. Some places on the road may not sell water, so it’s good to buy a few bottles when you stop in towns. Also, bring some snacks just in case you get hungry between meals.
Bring some Moroccan dirhams in cash. Small shops and desert areas don’t accept cards, and ATMs are not always available. You may want to buy souvenirs, tip your guide, or pay for a meal, so it’s good to have small bills ready.
When visiting Berber villages or local homes, always be respectful. Dress modestly, smile, and ask before taking photos. People are friendly and welcoming, and learning a few words like “shukran” (thank you) can make a big difference.
Lastly, be open to the adventure! Things may not always go as planned, but that’s part of the experience. Enjoy the beautiful views, try the delicious food, and take time to watch the sunset over the dunes. A positive attitude will help you create unforgettable memories on your trip from Marrakech to Fes.
