The 5 Days Morocco Desert Tour From Marrakech is one of the longest excursions we plan because it rewards interested tourists who want to spend more time in each place exploring and discovering what makes the cities special. The journey visits several sites and landmarks, including the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, Ouarzazate, Skoura palm, Valley of Roses, Dades gorges, Merzouga, and Rissani. You can meet some nomads who live in caves near Todra Gorges, embark on a camel journey in the Sahara desert, sleep in a nomad-tented camp, and participate in a variety of other enjoyable activities. 5 Days Morocco Desert Tour From Marrakech Itinerary :

Day 1 :

Marrakech - High Atlas - Ait Ben Haddou - Ounila Valley - Ouarzazate

Pick up from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8.30 a.m. in a private 4×4 car and depart to Ouarzazate over the High Atlas highlands. On our way, we will pass by Tizi Ntichka port, which is the highest point in our country at 2.260 meters. We’ll appreciate the lovely scenery from the overlooks along the way and make some pauses to photograph the berber villages. Then we’ll take a little road leading to Telouat Kasbah. After seeing the kasbah, you will have free time to enjoy a traditional dish in town.

In the afternoon, we’ll continue through the Ounila valley, passing small berber villages and families living in adobe houses lost in the mountains, to the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou, where we’ll visit the famous Kasbah (UNESCO declared it a World Heritage Site in 1986). Famous films have been shot on this beautiful stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, and so on. After viewing the kasbah, we’ll travel to Ouarzazate, widely known as “The Gate of the Desert”. Dinner at the hotel where we will stay the night.

Day 2 :

Ouarzazate - Draa Valley - Merzouga Desert - Camel journey and night at the bivouac.

After breakfast, we’ll head to the Draa Valley, where you can view one of Morocco’s longest rivers. On the journey, we pause to take pictures and admire the stunning kasbahs and berber settlements that line the road, as well as the natural beauty of the Draa Valley.You’ll have some free time for lunch in Nkob or Alnif before driving two hours to the beautiful Merzouga dunes. “Desert of powdery sand dunes” . We’ll swap our motorized conveyance for animal traction to travel across the center of the desert. When we arrive at the camp, we settle inside tents made of camel hair, similar to those used by nomad families Dinner and night in the berber tent under a beautiful starry sky.

Day 3 :

Merzouga Desert - Tisardmin Oasis - Khamlia Village - Erg Chebbi

This is a full desert day. “Date with the sunrise” If you’re in the middle of the desert, it’s well worth getting up early to see the most amazing sunrise you’ve ever seen from the top of a dune near the camp and enjoy the natural beauty of the region. After sunrise, we return to Merzouga on camels, where a sumptuous breakfast awaits us. Then we’ll skirt the Erg Chebbi, a vast stretch of sandy desert where we can find Morocco’s Big Dune, which stands more than 250 meters high.

We then continue along the road that was once utilized for the “Paris – Dakar” and terminate in the highlands that border Agelia. Stop at Tissardmin oasis to observe the fossil quarries that are still extant in the area, then proceed along a route to witness nomad settlements and learn about their secrets and manners. The next stop will be at an overlook to admire the hole Erg Chebbi. We will next travel to Kamilia Village, originally from Mali, where we will relax with a cup of tea while listening to a concert of Gnawa spiritual music. Transfer to your lodgings and spend the afternoon exploring the town or watching the sunset from the dunes close to the hotel. Dinner and night at the hotel.

Day 4 :

Merzouga Desert - Rissani Market - Erfoud - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley

We leave the desert after breakfast to go to Rissani where we’ll visit the market place (market days: tuesday, thursday and saturday), we continue then to Erfoud where we can visit the manufactures of fossilized marble before continuing our trip to Touroug and Tinjdad palm plantations. One hour later, we’ll arrive at one of the High Atlas’s most beautiful locations, the Todra Gorges. The river’s path has carved out a cliff-sided canyon, which is popular with climbers due to its beauty and high rock sides. Free time to eat lunch in this beautiful setting. A brief walk through the gorges is highly recommended to fully enjoy the grandeur of the area. In the afternoon, we travel to the Dades valley, Also known as the figs valley going through Boumalne Dades we’ll stop at the “monkey legs”. Dinner and night at the Dades gorges.

Day 5 :

Dades Gorges - Roses Valley - High Atlas - Marrakech

After breakfast, we may enjoy one of the best views of the Dades valley from a strategic lookout in the mountains, where we can see the large number of kasbahs and the picturesque features of each. Then we travel along a road dotted with tourist-friendly kasbahs. After a few stops to explore the “One Thousand Kasbahs Road”. We’ll go to Ouarzazate via the Roses Valley and the large Skoura palm forest to explore the Kasbah of Taourirt, the former home of the Glaoui or Marrakech pasha. If you’re interested, we can also visit the cinema studios and the Tue Cinema Museum. Lunch break in town.

In the afternoon we start our way back to Marrakech going through the mountain port of Tizi N’Tichka with some stops to take pictures. Here we leave back the moon landscape to reach another view full of colors. We’ll get to Marrakech about 6pm, transfer to the hotel and end of our services.
