Day 1: Fes – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast at your riad or hotel in Fes, meet your driver-guide and begin the journey south toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. The first stop is Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture and cool climate, often referred to as the Switzerland of Morocco. We then continue through the cedar forests of Azrou, where a short stop is made to observe the Barbary apes in their natural habitat.
The journey continues across the Middle Atlas to Midelt, an important commercial and agricultural town, where you will stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we descend into the Ziz Valley, famous for its vast palm oasis, traditional villages, and ancient kasbahs. Several panoramic stops are made to enjoy the changing scenery as the desert landscape begins to appear.
