You will travel through the spectacular Atlas Mountains and Moroccan Sahara desert, taking in the breathtaking landscape along the route. This road trip is a must-do for everyone looking for an unforgettable and exciting journey.
We will take you up from your hotel/riad in Fes and go to Ifran, a picturesque mountain village known as “the Switzerland of Morocco,” and then to Midelt. Throughout this tour, you will catch glimpses of the Middle and Higher Atlas mountains. Stopping in Azrou, a Berber village in the heart of Morocco’s famous cedar forest, where you might see Barbary apes.

After Midelt, you will travel through the fascinating Tizi N’talghamt pass and the Ziz Gorge, taking in views of the High Atlas plateau. As you approach the city of Errachidia, the scenery will change to reveal hints of the desert, and you will have lunch and enjoy Berber hospitality. After that, you’ll journey through the lush Ziz Valley, stopping for breathtaking vistas along the route to Erfoud and Rissani. Arrive in Merzouga throughout the afternoon. Before your camel ride, you’ll be greeted with a drink of mint tea and led by an expert camel man to explore the golden sand sea of Merzouga. Dinner in front of the tent where you will stay the night.

Day 2 :
Merzouga Desert - Rissani Market - Erfoud Fossil's - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley

“Morning with the sunrise” If you are in the middle of the desert, waking up early is a “must do” to contemplate the most spectacular sunrise you’ve ever seen at the top of a high dune near the camp and enjoy this landscape that is a gift of nature. Then we return to Merzouga on camels, where a hearty breakfast awaits us. After breakfast, we leave the desert for Rissani, where we will visit the market (market days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). We next go to Erfoud, where we will see the fossilized marble manufacturers before heading to Touroug and Tinjdad palm plantations.

One hour later, we’ll arrive at one of the High Atlas’s most beautiful locations, the Todra Gorges. The river’s path has carved out a cliff-sided canyon, which is popular with climbers due to its beauty and high rock sides. Free time to eat lunch in this beautiful setting. A brief walk through the gorges is highly recommended to fully enjoy the grandeur of the area. In the afternoon, we will travel to the Dades valley, also known as the fig valley, where we will stop at the “monkey legs”. Dinner and night at the Dades Gorges.

Day 3 :

After breakfast, we may enjoy one of the best views of the Dades valley from a strategic lookout in the mountains, where we can see the large number of kasbahs and the picturesque features of each. Then we travel along a road dotted with tourist-friendly kasbahs. After a few stops to explore the “One Thousand Kasbahs Road”. We’ll go to Ouarzazate via the Roses Valley and the large Skoura palm forest to explore the Kasbah of Taourirt, the former home of the Glaoui or Marrakech pasha. And if you’re interested, we can visit the cinema studios and the Tue Cinema Museum.

Half an hour from Ouarzazate, we will stop at ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou where we will visit the famous Kasbah (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous films have been shot on this beautiful stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, and so on. Lunch break in town.
