Itinerary for 4 DAYS MARRAKECH TO FES DESERT TOUR
Day 1 :
Marrakech – High Atlas mountains- Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah – Ouarzazate – Boumalne Dades
The 4 days Marrakech to Fes desert tour begins with an early pick up from the airport or your accommodation in Marrakesh. Then, drive across the magnificent High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass. Stops will be made for panoramic views of the stunning scenery.
Following that, we will visit the famed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. A fortified settlement designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Kasbah has appeared in various movies, such as Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy. In addition, there are television shows such as Game of Thrones. Then we travel to Ouarzazate, well known as “The Gate of the Desert”. Visit the Atlas Studio, where great films were shot, and the Taourirt Kasbah in Ourzazate. Then continue to Rose Valley. Every year in May, the residents hold a Rose Festival when they sell their rose products, which range from perfumes, rose water, oil, and cosmetics. Then we drove to Boumalne dades. Dinner and overnight In a hotel or a riad.
Day 2 :
Boumalne Dades – Todra Gorges – Erfoud -Merzouga Sahara
After breakfast, enjoy the breathtaking scenery of the Dades gorges. Then we continue to Todra Gorges, where the passage of the Todra River has cut out a spectacular canyon through the mountains, resulting in a steep red cliff-side gorge. Free time for lunch. Feel free to roam through the gorges and enjoy the scenery.
at the afternoon, we arrive at the Sahara desert of Merzouga. You switch to camels to cross the sandy desert. A pause will be made for you to admire the spectacular sunset from the top of a high dune. Then go to the desert luxury camp, where you may listen to Berber drum music while dancing around the campfire beneath the huge open sky of stars. Dinner and stay at the campsite.
Day 3 :
Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi
Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the lovely sunrise in the middle of the desert. Free time for breakfast. Then you ride camels back to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. We dedicate the day to exploring the Merzouga region. The area contains numerous magnificent sights, including sand dunes, wild lakes, mines, fossil locations, and fabulous oasis. Which are perfect locations for a variety of outdoor sports.
First, we begin our excursion in Merzouga by driving off-road to an ancient eyeliner mine. Then we pay the nomads a visit in their hand-woven tent. Drink Berber tea and learn about their way of life. Our next stop is Khamlia village, where you may enjoy Gnaoua music and dance performances. Its residents are from sub-Saharan African nations such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Free time for lunch at a restaurant. Following that, we take a stroll through a palm tree grove. Then drive a few kilometers to visit the wild lake of Merzouga, commonly known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight At a hotel.
Day4 :
Merzouga Dunes – Erfoud – Midelt – Cedars forest – Ifrane – Fes
On the last day of your 4 days Marrakech to Fes desert tour. You get up early to enjoy the stunning dawn in the middle of the desert. You have free time for breakfast before riding camels back to Merzouga, where the driver awaits. Then we leave the desert to explore Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an important trading center in the region, with a thriving souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After a tour around Rissani souk, we continue to Erfoud and visit one of the fossilized marble workshops.
After that we drive along the Ziz river, we stop for a panoramic view of the Ziz valley. Free time for lunch in Midelt. Then we continue to cedars forest, where the Barbary Macaques live. Feel free to feed them while wandering in the forest. After that we visit Ifrane, famous for its low temperature, snow and the alpine-style houses -No wonder it is called the Switzerland of Morocco.
