This 4 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga takes you on an unforgettable journey through Morocco’s beautiful desert. You’ll drive through the Draa Valley, filled with palm trees and ancient buildings, then cross the stunning Anti-Atlas Mountains.
Once in Merzouga, you’ll ride camels through the huge sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and sleep under the stars in a desert camp. On the way back, you’ll see the Valley of Roses and the 1001 Kasbahs Route, ending with a visit to the famous Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient village known for its beautiful buildings. This tour lets you experience Morocco’s desert, mountains, and history all in one trip.
The 4-day desert journey begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your hotel in Marrakech. Then, take a drive across the High Atlas Mountains and the Tizi-N-Tichka pass. There will be stops for panoramic views .
Next, we visit the famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, an old village that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This place has been used in many movies, like Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and even the TV show Game of Thrones. After that, we go to Ouarzazate, called “the gate of the desert.” You’ll have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
After breakfast, we start exploring Ouarzazate. First, we visit the Atlas Studios, where famous movies were filmed. Then, we explore the Taourirt Kasbah, an old mud castle with a rich history. After that, we head towards Agdz and join the Draa Valley, the longest river in Morocco.
We’ll drive along the valley, stopping to enjoy amazing views of palm groves, beautiful Kasbahs, and traditional Berber villages. We’ll also have some free time for lunch in Nkob or Alnif.
After lunch, we continue our journey to the Sahara desert, passing through Rissani. Once we reach the huge Erg Chebbi sand dunes, you’ll switch to camels to ride across the desert. We’ll stop at the top of a tall dune to enjoy the stunning sunset.
Then, we’ll head to the camp, which offers traditional nomadic tents with the comfort of a hotel. At the campsite, you can enjoy Berber drum music and dance around the campfire, surrounded by the starry sky. We’ll have dinner and spend the night at the camp.
Wake up early to watch the beautiful sunrise in the desert. Afterward, you’ll have some free time for breakfast before riding camels back to Merzouga, where the driver will be waiting. We’ll then leave the desert and visit Rissani, the old capital of Tafilalet. Rissani is still an important market town, with a busy souk (market) held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
After visiting the Rissani Souk, we head to Erfoud to see how fossilized marble is made. Then, we drive through the palm fields of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges. The river has carved out a beautiful canyon with tall, red cliffs on both sides. It’s a great place for rock climbing or simply enjoying the amazing views.
You’ll have free time to explore the Todra Gorges and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Afterward, we’ll stop for lunch at a restaurant. Then, we continue on to the Dades Valley, passing through Boumalne Dades. One of the highlights is a stop at the “Monkey Fingers,” a unique rock formation. From there, we’ll head up to a mountain with a stunning view of the valley below. Finally, we’ll have dinner and spend the night in a hotel.
On the last day of your 4 days tour from Marrakech to Merzouga, we start by visiting Kalaa Magouna to see the Rose Valley, famous for its roses. In May, the Rose Festival takes place, where locals sell rose products like perfumes, rose water, oils, and cosmetics.
Then, we drive past other Kasbahs, including Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by a palm tree forest in Skoura. We’ll reach Ouarzazate, where you’ll have free time for lunch. Afterward, we drive to Marrakech, crossing the Tizi-N-Tichka Pass and the High Atlas Mountains. Finally, we’ll drop you off at your hotel or the airport in Marrakech, marking the end of the tour.
