On the way to Fes, pass through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains, home to the Barbary macaques, and visit Ifrane, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.” The tour concludes in Fes, one of Morocco’s most historic imperial cities.

Our 6 Days Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes starts with an early pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Marrakech. We leave the city and drive toward the High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we cross the famous Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road pass in Morocco. We stop several times to enjoy the views and take photos.

Next, we visit Telouat Kasbah, an old palace that once belonged to a powerful family. After that, we continue to Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a beautiful fortified village and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many famous movies and TV series were filmed here, such as Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones.

Later in the afternoon, we drive to Ouarzazate, known as “the Gate of the Desert.”
Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel.

After breakfast, we visit Atlas Studios, one of the largest film studios in the world, and then explore Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate.

We continue our journey to Skoura Oasis to visit Amridil Kasbah, surrounded by palm trees. Then we drive through the Rose Valley, famous for its rose products. Every May, locals celebrate the Rose Festival and sell rose water, perfumes, oils, and cosmetics.

 

Next, we travel through the Dades Valley and stop at a viewpoint to see the impressive Dades Gorges. We then head to the Todra Gorges, a deep canyon with high red cliffs. You will have free time to walk around and enjoy the scenery. Lunch is free here.

In the afternoon, we arrive at the Merzouga Sahara Desert. You change to camels and ride across the golden dunes. We stop on a high dune to watch a beautiful sunset. After that, we reach the luxury desert camp. Enjoy dinner, and the campfire under the stars.

Wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you ride camels back to Merzouga village, where the driver is waiting.

Today is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region by 4x4. We drive off-road to visit an old kohl (eyeliner) mine. Then we visit nomadic families in their traditional tents. You will drink Berber tea and learn about their simple way of life.

Next, we go to Khamlia village, where people of Sub-Saharan African origin live. Here, you enjoy Gnawa music and dancing. Lunch is free at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, we walk through a palm tree grove and then visit Merzouga Lake, also called Flamingo Lake, if water is present.

After breakfast, we leave the desert and drive to Rissani, the old capital of the Tafilalet region. We visit the traditional Rissani market, which is very lively on market days.

Then we continue to Erfoud, famous for fossils. We visit a workshop where fossil stones are made into marble products.

Next, we drive along the Ziz River and stop to enjoy panoramic views of the Ziz Valley. In Midelt, you have free time for lunch.

After lunch, we head to the cedar forest, home to the Barbary macaque monkeys. You can walk in the forest and see the monkeys. Then we visit Ifrane, a clean and quiet town with European-style houses, often called the “Switzerland of Morocco.”

In the evening, we arrive in Fes and drop you off at your hotel or riad.

After breakfast, a local guide picks you up to explore Fes, Morocco’s cultural and religious capital.

We start with a visit to the Royal Palace gate. Then we enter the old Fes Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, through the Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud).

Inside the Medina, you visit Bou Inania Madrasa, Najjarine Fountain, the famous tanneries, and Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University, the oldest university in the world.

Later, we visit the Jewish Quarter (Mellah). Then we drive to a viewpoint with amazing views over the entire Medina.
Return to your riad for the night.

After breakfast, we offer a short final visit in Fes, depending on your flight time. Then we transfer you to Fes Airport.
