This 5 Days Desert Tour from Agadir to Merzouga blends a beach holiday with an adventurous desert experience, traversing Morocco’s diverse landscapes. Highlights include Taroudant’s massive ramparts, Talouine’s saffron museum, Taznakht’s Berber rug-making, and the UNESCO-listed Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou outside Ouarzazate. Experience rural Berber life in the Dra’a Valley, enjoy a camel ride, Berber drumming, and the stunning sunset and sunrise in the Erg Chebbi dunes. Discover the geology of the Dades Valley, explore underground irrigation channels, marvel at the High Atlas Mountains’ panoramas, and conclude with a tour of Marrakech’s main attractions.
From Agadir, you will travel with our expert local guide to Taroudant, one of Morocco’s oldest cities. From here, we will continue to Ouarzazate. In Ouarzazate, spend overnight in a small riad with supper.
After breakfast, we visit the famed Atlas Film Studio in Ouarzazate, then travel to Skoura and Kalaat m’Gouna, famous for its annual rose festival. We tour the Dades Valley’s magnificent sceneries, including the Todra Gorge. From here, we go to Erfoud, which is famed for its dates and fossil items. We have supper and spend the night in a motel near Merzouga.
We will tour the Merzouga Desert from a comfy 4×4 car. We will visit the towns of Khamlia and Hassi Labiad, as well as explore the desert dunes. In Khamlia, we’ll hear native and live Gnawa music. In the afternoon, we ride a camel to the Merzouga desert camp, which is located deep in the sand dunes. We’ll spend the night in the Merzouga Desert, complete with all the needs of a Sahara camp. We will watch the breathtaking sunset over the dunes before enjoying a traditional Berber supper accompanied by local drum music around a bonfire. We will spend the night in nomadic tents.
After witnessing the sunrise, we will return to Merzouga village on camels. After breakfast, we will go via the villages of Rissani and Agdez. We will also travel through the Draa Valley to Ouarzazate, where we will eat supper and spend the night in a small riad.
On the final day of our Agadir tour, we’ll visit Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most famous kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following lunch, we head to Agadir.
