Depart from your Agadir accommodation at around 07:00 a.m., passing via Taroudant, sometimes known as “small Marrakesh,” before a quick visit to the city walls and Medina. Afterward, drive to Taliouine (Morocco’s sole saffron growing area) and tour the Saffron cooperative, followed by a quick visit to the Glaoui Kasbah.
Then head to Taznakht. Lunch, followed by a tour to the carpet factory. Drive from here to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, one of Morocco’s most famous kasbahs and a UNESCO World Heritage site where iconic films such as “Gladiator,” “Lawrance of Arabia,” “The Mummy,” and “Game of Thrones” were filmed. After the visit, go to Ouarzazate for supper and stay.
Today, after breakfast in Ouarzazate, we will drive via the Rose and Dades valleys to the Todra gorges. Where we halt for a short walk through these stunning gorges, followed by lunch. Then, our four-day travel from Agadir to Merzouga desert continues to the Erg Chebbi dunes, where you will ride a camel to reach them. The sunset from the top of the dunes is beautiful. Overnight and supper in a lovely desert camp.
At the camp, they will tell you what time you need to get up to watch the incredible dawn from the dunes, when the color of the dunes and the dance of shadows are breathtaking. Then return to camp to shower and have breakfast. We travel from Merzouga to the Draa valley (the biggest in Morocco), passing via Rissani, Alnif, and Nkob. Then you’ll head to Agdz for supper and overnight.
Today, after breakfast in Agdz, we travel for Agadir via Taznakht, which is famed for its Berber rugs and carpets. On the route, we pass through stunning scenery and the Bouazzer mines. This is a remote area of the country that is less well-traveled. Later, we travel to Agadir via the Tizi N’Ikhsane and Tizi N’Tighatine passes. We stop for lunch at Taliouine, the center of Morocco’s saffron growing region, where there is an outstanding little museum dedicated to the art of saffron cultivation.
