3 Days Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga Itinerary :
Day 1: Marrakech - Ait Ben Haddou - Ouarzazate - Dades Valley
Commence your journey from your accommodation in Marrakech at 8 a.m heading towards the High Atlas, specifically the Moroccan Atlas mountains, passing through the Tizi N’Tichka . Take breaks to enjoy panoramic views and capture images of the Berber small villages seamlessly blending into the landscape.
Continuing south, reach the ksar (fortified village) of Ait Ben Haddou, housing the famous Kasbah declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. This spectacular stage has been featured in renowned films like Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, Sahara with Penélope Cruz, among others. Enjoy free time for lunch in town before proceeding to Ouarzazate, also known as the “Gateway to the Desert,” which, in Berber language, means “noiseless or without confusion.” Explore the Taourirt Kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco.
The journey continues to the Rose Valley, passing through Skoura palm grove, a beautiful area with over 700,000 palm trees and many kasbahs. The valley is famous for growing damascene roses, which are used to make products like rosewater. Every May, the Rose Festival takes place here, celebrating the local culture. Finally, we reach the Dades Valley, where we’ll spend the night.
Day 1: Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Merzouga
The second day of our 3-day Marrakech desert tour starts with a delicious breakfast. Tineghir is our destination, and we stop for a panoramic view of lovely Berber towns and a lush oasis dotted with palm trees. The Toudgha Gorge, a 300-meter-high gorge that we will explore on foot, is only a short distance away.
Our journey continues to Erfoud, passing through southern Moroccan Berber Bedouin communities, until we reach Merzouga. Once there, our camels will be ready for an adventure into the Erg Chebbi dunes in the Sahara. We’ll stop on a high dune to watch the breathtaking sunset over the golden sands of Erg Chebbi.
As the sun sets, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of refreshing mint tea, delectable food, a lively campfire, a musical gathering, and an overnight stay at the Berber camp in Merzouga.
Day 1: Merzouga - Draa Valley - Ouarzazate - Marrakech
In the early morning, we head out for a special “Date with the Sunrise” in the desert. It’s worth waking up early to watch the beautiful sunrise from a dune near the camp. Afterward, we ride camels back to Merzouga for a tasty breakfast. Energized, we start the final part of our journey through the dry, pre-desert area, where we’ll see the unique acacia trees that grow here.
On the way to the Draa Valley, we make stops to enjoy the beautiful views of the river, which is the longest in Morocco, flowing through the country and into Mauritania. We then continue towards Ouarzazate, passing through the Anti-Atlas Mountains. After some free time for lunch in the town, we head back to Marrakech, expecting to arrive around 8 p.m. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, marking the end of our services.
