Have you ever dreamed of escaping to a world of sand dunes, ancient kasbahs, and magical sunsets? With our 5-day excursions from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, that dream can become a reality.
We are the ones who organize this unforgettable journey. From the moment you leave Marrakech, every detail is carefully planned to give you an amazing and stress-free adventure.
When you travel from Marrakech to the Sahara Desert, you get to see the real Morocco. The route takes you through beautiful valleys, old kasbahs, Berber villages, and finally the huge, magical sand dunes. These excursions are perfect if you want to explore more than just the city.
You don’t need to plan everything on your own. Local guides and drivers are there to help you every step of the way. You can sit back, enjoy the views, and learn about the culture around you. Whether you travel in a 4×4, a van, or with a small group, everything is taken care of.
You begin your journey by crossing the High Atlas Mountains. These winding roads give you breathtaking views. You’ll stop at the famous Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its beautiful kasbahs.
You may even recognize it from movies like Gladiator or Game of Thrones. After lunch, your road continues through the Valley of the Roses before reaching the Dades Valley, where you’ll spend the night.
After breakfast, you head to the stunning Todgha Gorges, famous for their high cliffs and narrow canyon paths. It’s a great place for photos or a quiet walk. In the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert.
Here, a new adventure starts. You’ll ride a camel across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The peaceful silence of the desert, the soft golden sand, and the setting sun will take your breath away. You’ll spend the night in a traditional Berber camp under a sky full of stars.
You wake up early to watch the sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast at the camp, you explore the Merzouga region. You’ll visit local nomadic families who still live in traditional tents.
Then, you head to Khamlia village where you’ll listen to Gnawa music, a unique and spiritual rhythm brought from Sub-Saharan Africa. You’ll return to the camp or stay in a nearby guesthouse for the night.
On day four, you leave Merzouga and visit Rissani, the old capital of the Tafilalt region and a big trading center. The local market is full of colors and flavors. After Rissani, the road takes you to Agdez through the Draa Valley.
Palm trees and old kasbahs make this a very peaceful ride. You’ll reach Ouarzazate by evening and stay there for the night.
The last day takes you back to Marrakech. Along the way, you’ll pass many beautiful sights and make a few photo stops. You’ll arrive in Marrakech with many memories, stories to tell, and a camera full of photos.
You can visit the Sahara all year round. But the best time is during spring (March to May) or autumn (September to November). The weather is not too hot during the day and not too cold at night.
In summer, the heat can be strong. If you travel in July or August, choose a tour that includes air-conditioned transport and a comfortable camp. In winter, nights in the desert can get very cold, so pack warm clothes if you go between December and February.
